I've worked to reduce the county tax rate by over 12% the last seven years to the lowest it's been in over 17 years, by eliminating waste from department budgets. We achieved a 40% reduction in our debt over the past seven years.  As a result, Galveston County is the healthiest it's ever been. We are one of only ten counties in the state and the only coastal county in the State of Texas with an AAA bond rating and continue to invest in transportation and infrastructure while at the same time reducing our tax rate every year.

Paid off public debt early, saving taxpayers millions of dollars. The size of County government has been reduced by 7% since 2011, by cutting spending not raising taxes.

Continue working with state and regional officials to accelerate our transportation and infrastructure projects to minimize the impact of Hurricane Harvey, and improve our quality of life.
